Growth exposed a support burden as well as a capacity problem

The business doubled in 2023, and network downtime and Wi-Fi complaints consumed the IT team’s attention. Staff depended on connectivity for SAP ERP, printing, voice and collaboration. The modernization addressed wired and wireless access together.

That scope matters because the warehouse and office applications do not stop at the access point. A user can report a Wi-Fi problem when the difficulty lies elsewhere in the path. Bringing switching and wireless into one view gave the team a more coherent place to investigate the service, rather than dividing the reported symptom between unrelated management tools.

Templates preserved differences between facilities

The deployment used zero-touch provisioning and Mist templates for VLANs, port settings and site groups. The templates reflected the different requirements of office and warehouse locations.

This is a useful distinction within standardization. A shared management system does not require every facility to receive the same configuration. Templates can make the intended differences explicit and repeatable. In this project, the site grouping was part of the deployment method, allowing the organization to reduce manual repetition without pretending that an office and a distribution facility perform identical work.

Shared visibility changed incident handling

Mist Wireless Assurance, Wired Assurance, analytics and Marvis supported monitoring and diagnosis. The company reported faster incident detection and analysis, with fewer issues escalating from the service desk to infrastructure engineers. The case’s headline metric was a 90 percent reduction in network-related trouble tickets.

That result concerns the recorded support workload. It is not a 90 percent increase in application speed or a proof that every network fault disappeared. The operational meaning is nevertheless clear: the environment generated fewer issues requiring support, and the team had better tools for understanding the remaining ones. That is particularly relevant to an estate spread across many facilities.

The network became easier to extend

The team used multiple pre-shared keys to simplify onboarding without an additional authentication server for that function. The access points also provided capabilities for future location and IoT uses, which the case described as opportunities rather than completed deployments.

Cartennas’s assessment is that PharmaOverseas joined repeatable installation with a more consistent support process. The 70-site rollout establishes the delivery scale. Site-specific templates explain how the organization handled variation, and the trouble-ticket result records an operating improvement after deployment. The case demonstrates standardization with deliberate differences, rather than one generic configuration applied to every building.
