The capability difference comes before the speed difference

A comparison based only on pages per minute misses the main decision. The Brother is useful when staff scan, copy and print ordinary business documents. The HP is useful when the office needs a dedicated color-output engine.

An organization that needs both functions may rationally use two devices. That can separate a time-consuming scan job from print demand, but it adds equipment and consumables. Consolidation and separation should be judged against the actual work queue.

Best initial questionHow much paper must enter the workflow? How much color output must stay in-house?

The Brother's advantage is the complete document path

The MFC-L5915DW combines a 70-sheet automatic document feeder with legal-size flatbed scanning. Its published duplex scanning figures distinguish monochrome and color originals. A color scan does not change the printer's monochrome output capability.

A hands-on test found fast text printing but less convincing graphics output. That supports a text-heavy office role more clearly than a use case built around polished graphical documents.

The workflow benefit is that an incoming document can be captured and an ordinary paper copy produced at the same device. Cartennas would evaluate the scan destination, file usability and handling of imperfect originals, rather than select the device solely on its fastest print mode.

The HP should be justified by the color workload

The 5700dn is a print-only color LaserJet. Its published recommended monthly range makes it a departmental candidate, but a maximum duty-cycle figure should not be treated as a comfortable monthly operating target.

The purchase is most defensible when color carries useful information in documents the office produces regularly. If color jobs are infrequent, the business should compare the complete cost of maintaining that capability with its existing alternatives.

The independent exact-model evidence available for this comparison is thinner than the manufacturer documentation. Cartennas therefore does not assign an invented reliability advantage to the HP or treat its rated speed as a measured result on every file type.

Consumables can change the economics

Brother offers high-yield toner options, but their advertised yield should not be confused with the smaller cartridge supplied in the box. The drum is also a separate wear item. The initial purchase and the ongoing replacement schedule are different cost questions.

HP's dynamic-security requirements affect compatible cartridge electronics. An operating-cost estimate that assumes unrestricted use of any low-price cartridge can therefore describe a configuration the printer does not reliably support.

Compare consumables using the same document mix and expected monthly volume. Heavy graphics, color coverage and frequent short jobs can make a simple nominal cost-per-page calculation less representative. Include paper handling and staff intervention when deciding which arrangement is economical.

Which device belongs in the office?

Choose the Brother when the dominant requirement is monochrome document work with integrated capture. Its multifunction design is more valuable than a small difference in rated printing speed when staff need to scan and copy throughout the day.

Choose the HP when departmental color printing is the required role and capture is already covered elsewhere. Its price should be compared with another color-output solution, not justified by capabilities the monochrome MFP was never intended to provide.

Cartennas would decide using a representative packet: the ordinary text job, the difficult graphic, the incoming original and the longest expected queue. The result should establish which tasks each device completes well and which still require another workflow.
