Technology topic
Firewalls, secure gateways, access control, and physical security platforms.
Manufacturer identifier: FG-90G
The FortiGate 90G offers substantial branch connectivity and security-processing capacity in a desktop appliance. The buying decision turns on inspected traffic, the FortiOS release and the remote-access design, rather than the much larger basic firewall throughput figure.

Manufacturer identifier: XGS 128
The second-generation XGS 128 combines extensive 2.5GbE connectivity with Sophos Firewall operation. Its strongest case is an established Sophos environment, but the 19.1Gbps firewall headline must be separated from its much lower TLS-inspection rating and the applications the branch depends on.

The FortiGate 90G and XGS 128 Gen 2 take different hardware and software approaches to branch security. Interface needs, encrypted inspection and the intended software release are more useful selectors than basic firewall throughput.
